A Chief Social Worker?

August 5, 2010

Both BASW and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families Tim Loughton seem to think having a Chief Social Worker would be a good idea. Here is my list of potential candidates. Please cast your votes (up to 3) or add your own favoured candidate (lack of a social work qualification is, as usual, no bar).

Well, I voted for you 🙂 My problem with a ‘chief social worker’ is that social work is so diverse – with there being the massive divide between child and families, adult and mental health. There are a lot of politics involved. To be honest, I’m happy with a college-type ‘joint leadership’. The problem with leaders (like managers) is that wanting to be one should be a bar to being one! Maybe that’s a bit flippant but it’s nearly Friday..

And thanks for the kind words 🙂
