Too Many Cooks (and much too little broth)
The National Audit Office (NAO) has issued a report critical of Cafcass. What a surprise – given that NAGALRO, NAPO, the Association of Lawyers for Children and many other organisations and individuals including this and other Blogs, have been pointing out the systemic management failings in Cafcass for several years.
Now, reacting to the NAO report the chairwoman of the Committee of Public Accounts, Margaret Hodge, said the report raised “serious concerns about the way in which Cafcass meets the needs of vulnerable children”. She said: “My committee will take evidence on this report in September and I will want to understand why, some seven years after it was formed, the organisation lacked the managerial competence to deliver an effective service.”
My heading to this post is intended as a succinct contribution to increasing Margaret’s understanding.
